Music Makers is a faith-based afterschool program for 2nd—5th graders. We do music, drama, crafts, recreation, snacks and present a full-length musical with scenery and costumes. Children do not need to be a member of Trinity UMC to participate. This program welcomes children from public, private, & home schools. (Note: We follow the Volusia County School calendar. If school is closed that day, we will not rehearse/meet.)
Our spring production is titled “Spend Awhile on the Nile” which is a story about three children who are traveling along the Nile River in Egypt on an entertainment cruise, directed by Mr. Cruise, his daughter Liza, and his performing troupe which retells Bible stories from long ago. One slight problem: Mr. Cruise gets all the stories wrong. So, the children straighten him out and help Mr. Cruise learn about God’s enduring love and faithfulness to His people.
This 35-minute musical features 10-13 total characters, including Mr. Cruise, Liza, the three children (Grace, Joshua, and Ruthie), and 5-8 other characters for drama scenes, solos, and bit parts. Bible stories included are Joseph and his brothers, Pharaoh’s dream, Moses and the burning bush, Moses and the ten plagues, Abraham’s promise, and crossing the Red Sea. The final song is Matt Redman’s “You Never Let Go.” Mr. Cruise prays for salvation, and sings part of the final song. This is a fun musical with lots of toe-tapping songs, humor, Bible truths, and possibilities for clever dramatic interpretation.
Rehearsals will be held after school through 5:00 p.m. on these dates (unless otherwise noted):
